Use

Several of its salts have important applications, such as the preparation of Fehling's reagent with potassium sodium tartrate in the laboratory for the identification of aldehyde functional groups in the structure of organic molecules. Its potassium sodium salt is also called Rochelle salt, and its crystal is polarized under pressure to produce a potential difference on the surface of the two ends (piezoelectric effect), which can be made into piezoelectric components for radio and cable radio receivers and pickups. Potassium antimony tartrate (commonly known as tartar emetic) is medically used to treat schistosomiasis.
